THOMAS WEINBERGER ‘Denkraum Deutschland II’ at Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich

As part of the group exhibition Denkraum Deutschland II at Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany, Thomas Weinberger is presenting the works THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SOCIETY and QUANTIFICATION SET, created in collaboration with Benjamin Zuber in 2018.

For their works, the artists appropriate objects and materials from various social spheres which are primarily associated with the concept of competition, such as advertising, the financial markets or the media.

In this exhibition, a laboratory of ideas, artists, designers, and architects approach the political dimension to art, design, and architecture and make it visible. The second edition of Denkraum focuses on the relationship between physical and digital reality. Following the model of Joseph Beuys’s participatory action space, the museum becomes a site of shared experience and open dialogue. The exhibition demonstrates that artistic inquiry of any kind holds a mirror up to society and is an examination of difference in coexistence.
