Nike Savvas Large-scale installation at Te Papa, New Zealand

August 10, 2019

Nike Savvas’ immersive installation ‘Finale: Bouquet’ has opened as part of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa permanent collection. The confetti-like strands fill the gallery and invite the audience to interact with the work in a celebration of colour. The seven colours used in the work have been inspired by Te Papa’s collection of native botanical watercolours by early 20th century New Zealand artist Sarah Featon. Te Papa head of art Charlotte Davy says, “Savvas’ ability to command space is remarkable. Finale: Bouquet is an immersive, colourful and optically dazzling art experience.” The work will be at Te Papa’s Toi Art from Friday until January 12, 2020.

To celebrate the opening of ‘Finale: Bouquet’, Nike will be giving an artist talk TODAY Saturday 10.08.19 from 2-3PM. By clicking on the links below, you can also read an interview between Nike and the Curator of Contemporary Art at Te Papa, Nina Tonga, as well as a review of the work by Felix Desmarais.
