Jon Cattapan’s latest solo exhibition ‘Jon Cattapan: The Spaces of and Between’ is currently on show at Rockhampton Gallery in Queensland. The exhibition focuses on his striking depictions of urban topographies, influenced by night vision technology, city panoramas and layered transmissions. Many of these works were made directly as a result of his experiences in Timor Leste in 2008, when Cattapan was commissioned to be Australia’s 63rd official artist for the Australian War Memorial. These works look through the lens of surveillance and conflict to consider the way human beings claim territory.
‘Jon Cattapan: The Spaces of and Between’ will be on until 25 September 2018 at Rockhamptom Gallery in the Anderson Room.
