Lottie Consalvo’s paintings have a physical presence that leave space for for imagination and memory, allowing the viewer to walk a tightrope of ambiguity. Working with a restricted palette across mediums, Consalvo often grasps monumental forms and uses the high contrast of opposing dark and light to mark out a place for the intangible.
Consalvo is a Newcastle-based artist whose abstract paintings and video performances are well-respected for their strength of character. She has held solo shows at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Heide Museum of Modern Art and Casula Powerhouse. She has also been extensively exhibited in regional galleries including Goulburn, Newcastle, and Lake Macquarie. Formative projects include her selection as artist in residence by Marina Abramović for Kaldor Public Art Project 30.
