This Saturday and Sunday will be the last days to see Lottie Consalvo’s extraordinary solo show ‘Somewhere Else’ at Maitland Regional Art Gallery. This show brings together her abstract paintings and an immersive video work to explore the immeasurable attributes of the self. You can click here to virtually ‘walk through’ the space and see Lottie’s monumental deep canvas and paired paintings.
These paintings explore the impossibility of replicating original thought, presenting a singular work and its echo alongside each other. Consalvo’s deep canvas stretches 4 metres across the gallery floor, giving the sliver of a painted surface a colossal presence. Her video work ‘I Stirred The Sea To See If It Was Alive’ is made up of a montage of haunting images that juxtapose the restless ocean with the artist’s slow, purposeful movements. The show concludes this Sunday 3 November.
