Locust Jones performance for FOMArt at Art Gallery of NSW

September 14, 2018

Locust Jones will be doing a performance on Saturday 29 September as part of FOMArt, curated by the AGNSW Youth Collective. ‘PerformanceLab: 4×4’ by Locust Jones is a 3-hour long duration performance which will be accompanied by drummer Tim Bruniges. Locust will use the drum beats and drone soundscapes as a catalyst to further explore the act of mark-making.

Jones currently has a large-scale scroll work on display in the 2018 Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial at the Art Gallery of NSW. This exhibition features works by Australian artists who find a connection between drawing and the moving image and will be on display until 21 October.

The Dobell Foundation has written an article about this work, which you can read about in the link below. The latest issue of the AGNSW society magazine ‘Look’ also includes an interview ‘I drew the news today, oh boy…’, in which the artist explains: “My drawing process weaves layers, stories and images so that they build up and pile one on top of the other, much like how we receive the news everyday…”
