Yindjibarndi woman Katie West combines social practice, naturally dyed textiles and installation to form ways to practice custodianship in still colonised and ecologically compromised contexts. This exhibition is comprised of naturally dyed one metre square pieces of yirarrla (calico) and considers how units of measurement shape our view of the warna (ground) beneath our feet. The exhibition will open this Friday 14 December at the Melbourne-based artist run initiative Caves Gallery and will continue until 22.12.18.
