Julian Day Visiting Artists and Scholars (VAVS) Program, American Academy in Rome

July 13, 2019

From the 20-27 of July, Julian Day will be undertaking a residency at the American Academy in Rome as part of the Visiting Artists and Scholars Program. Here, Day will be researching historic and contemporary approaches to civic and urban infrastructures and crowd theory. The Visiting Artist and Scholars Program offers participants an opportunity to contribute to the culture of international interdisciplinary exchange that characterises the American Academy in Rome. Day approaches sound as a vital means of examining the world and is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts at Colombia University through the Samstag Scholarship. He frames sound as a social and civic practice, which manifests in site responsive performances, installations, video and text.
