Australian World Orchestra

June 27, 2019

The Australian World Orchestra begins their 2019 concert season this July with performances in Melbourne and Canberra, as well as a special chamber performance exclusive to Sydney. Each year, the AWO assembles Australia’s finest musicians from around the world to present exhilarating classical music performances, with this year’s Canberra and Melbourne performances conducted by Artistic Director Alexander Briger. DMG hosted the AWO’s Classic Stomp performance last year, which paired a commissioned chamber concert score with Anne Zahalka’s exhibition ‘Wild Life in the Age of the Anthropocene’. These memorable performances feature Australians returning home from playing in leading world orchestras such as the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.
