ANNE ZAHALKA Finalist in 2019 Olive Cotton Award

June 13, 2019

Anne Zahalka has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Olive Cotton Award, on exhibition at the Tweed Regional Gallery from 12 July – 22 September 2019. The Olive Cotton Award for photographic portraiture is a $20,000 biennial national award for excellence in photographic portraiture. Anne’s work ‘The Ambassadors’ reimagines art history and social stereotypes through a playful tableau. She deconstructs familiar images and re-presents them to allow other figures and stories to be told that reflect on cultural diversity, gender and difference within Australian society. Anne has been previously selected as a finalist for the Olive Cotton Award with her portrait ‘The Papapetrou Family’ receiving the Directors Choice Acquisition as well as the Judge’s High Commendation in 2017.

Recipients of the awards will be announced at the exhibition opening to be held at Tweed Regional Gallery on Saturday 13 July at 5PM.
